I guess I am not sophisticated enough to know the difference of fishing jerk baits for bass vs. Walleye. Isn't it a difference in location more than technique?

This is a technique to be used by an experienced angler only. Going through the gills is dangerous for the novice to try. If the hook is that deep, i would recommend wire cutters to first remove the line and then cut away as much of the hook as possible and release the fish. Many states's Departments of Wildlife have conducted studies that confirm most fish will dislodge the small amount of hook or it will quickly rust away. Hooks are cheap, not worth the life of a healthy bass. If you go this route, watch several times before attempting this. Most experts agree going through the gills is risky business.

Walleye are hands down...my favorite fish to eat!!!

This technique is excellent. A few weeks ago I caught a bass with a hook (And swivel) in its throat from a previous catch. I was able to remove the hook in a few seconds with this technique.

Yes 25 years ago we done this at the damn to catch big strippers and I wanna at Tennessee river dams Wilson an wheeler , we didn’t have swimbaits back then had to improvise on what we did have.

After I mastered the post blow up pause to feel the basd and set the hook frog fishing the 2nd most important thing I did that maximized my hookup ratio frog fishing was go to a smaller very soft frog. 98% of the lakes I bass fish 99% of the bass you will catch regardless of presentation is 2-4lbs with most in the 2-3.5lb class. Using a smaller fog immediately and significantly increased my hookup success

that's how i rig all my flukes, i also rig it so the hook slides out of the lure n the lure slides up your line too
